What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation procedure that’s used to treat skin concerns by means of boosting collagen production. It involves a trained practitioner using a mechanical device to make multiple tiny microinjuries in your skin with sterile needles. Sometimes called 'collagen induction therapy', micro-needling treatment helps reduce the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling stimulates your skin to make more collagen, the key component of the skin that is naturally lost over time. The microneedling device is passed over the skin by your medical practitioner, creating thousands of microscopic injuries to skin, and the body responds with a healing response, resulting in new, collagen-rich tissue. This new skin tissue is more even in tone and texture. It’s normal for the skin to lose collagen via age or injury but, by encouraging the skin to make new tissue, there may be more collagen after treatment, to help make the skin firmer.

Expert Insight:

"Microneedling is a great option for patients concerned about acne scarring, fine lines and other texture/pigmentation issues. It's quick and easy to perform and is best used as part of an ongoing treatment plan, in combination with nourishing topical treatments, to keep your skin looking fresh, firm and bright."
